Svenskekløften (Swedish gorge)
On my way through the forest looking for the autumnal colours, I came past this astonishing place: Suddenly the forest opens up in a 25-30 meter deep gorge made by meltwater during the latest ice age.
According to an old legend, the Swedish troops hid here for the Gønge chieftain (Gøngehøvdingen) during the Dano-Swedish War in 1660 - hence the name.
I used a LEE Landscape Polariser filter to enhance the colours and reduce the reflection.

Beech beach
When you see these fantastic beech trees, you can see why Adam Oehlenschläger had this place in mind when he wrote the Danish national anthem in 1820 (at least so the rumor says).
The part with "...Det står med brede bøge, nær salten østerstrand..." (it stands with broad beech-trees, near the salty eastern shore) really suits this place.

The summer2023 , it was 90 years since the Training ship `Skoleskibet Danmark` was launched from Nakskov Shipyard. On this occasion, the ship was invited to visit Nakskov Harbour.
I was told that the ship would be illuminated at night, so I could not miss that chance, and at 01 a.m. I was ready, and I was so lucky that it was totally still at the same time.

Eurasian pygmy shrew (Sorex minutus)
I went for a hike in quite awful weather with the intent of shooting wildlife, but none of them were particularly cooperative - except for this little guy which I almost stepped on.
So I just sat down to watch him poke around the ground searching for food, and he did not pay any attention to me no matter how close I was.
This must be the smallest creature I have ever photographed - he was not more than 3-4 cm.

Yellow
On one of my walks through the woods my eyes caught this mossy dry-stone wall leading towards this very bright, yellow tree, and I immediately thought: Here’s my shot…
However, it was quite difficult to shoot as there was a lot of bright sky shining through the trees from the left, and even though I used a graduated filter to stop down the upper, left corner, it was still too bright, so I ended up with the yellow tree being a little too close to the edges – at least to my liking. I wish I had a taller tripod…
Furthermore, it took a lot of dodging and burning in post to get a decent output of this image.

Gold
On the second night of my trip to Harstad, I went for a hike along the water.
It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, but I was struggling to find decent compositions. The distant mountains bathed in the setting sun was spectacular, and I should have brought a longer lens to capture details (there are actually about 12 km to those mountains). Also, I could not find any obvious foregrounds to get a wider shot.
I ended up with this shot which is fine because of the colours and the sailboat in the middle, but I still find that it does not do justice to the beauty of the scene at all.

Hyllekrog Lighthouse
The lighthouse from 1905 is located near the end of a long sandspit attached to the southernmost tip of Lolland, about 10 km southeast of Rødbyhavn and can only be accessed from a 4 km hike from the parking lot. However, the area is closed for protection of nesting birds between March 1 and July 15. The whole area is a vast nature reserve
After the lighthouse was deactivated in 1991 (and an attached building for the lighthouse keeper was demolished) the tower was abandoned for two decades, but in 2011 it was transferred to the Danish Nature Agency (Naturstyrelsen), which repaired and restored the tower.
Today the entrance to the tower is free and from the top there is a magnificent view of the nature reserve. Inside the tower there is a small exhibition on the species and habitats around Hyllekrog.

In the middle of a summer day the light is often extremely harsh and difficult to photograph - but then you can always play around with long exposures, and I actually quite like this one - mostly because of the layers of powerful colours.

When I went out a couple of hours before sunset, it was almost totally overcast and not very promising - only a small gap at the horizon suggested that it could be better, and - wauw..! - it surely did...
The sky slowly opened up and this is what I got around 20 minutes after the actual sunset.

Sea of Lupines
I came past this amazing field of lupines, and of course I had to stop and get an image or two.
I ended up with this composition with the beautiful Landet Church in the background.
Again I had to focus stack from three images - although I wish I had used more, as a couple of the flowers are a little motion blurred because of the wind.

One more shot from my sun/moonrise trip to Møns Klint - this one zoomed in to the cliff point and the moon.
Handheld. No filters.

Taken at the same spot as the previous image - only half an hour later and zoomed out to 15mm.
I really hate the plane with the contrail across my sky, but he wouldn`t leave fast enough even though I shouted at him 😄 - I could have cloned it out in post, but I was too lazy 😴

For several years I have wanted to see the `Copenhagen Light Festival` which every year in February transforms the city into a celebration of light art and illuminating experiences.

This year I finally made it on the last opening weekend, and I was NOT disappointed..!
The first image I made was this view over Kalvebod Brygge in the Blue hour.
No filters used.
In Lightroom I have just added the standard colour profile for my camera, reduced the highlights and lightened the shadows.

Højerup Old Church - The Church on the Edge
The history of the Church dates all the way back to the 13th century. At the time people said that “kirken flyttede sig et hanefjed ind i landet hver julenat” (the Church moved an inch inland every Christmas Eve). But nature caught up with the Church. In the 15th century the cliff started to chip away at the cemetery with the macabre result that coffins and skeletons started sticking out of the cliff. The ocean washed away the soft chalk at the base of the cliff, and in 1910 people ceased using the Church because it became too dangerous.
As a result of a major cliff collapse on the 16th of March 1928 at five o`clock in the morning, the chancel of the Church and part of the graveyard crashed into the sea. The partially ruined church quickly became a major attraction. For three days around 40,000 people visited Højerup. They were fascinated by the unusual sight of a torn church and what was left of the chancel, altar, coffins and skeletons on the beach.
The Church was subsequently secured against further collapse. Where the chancel used to be, there is now an observation terrace, where you literally hang on the cliff with a spectacular view of the Baltic Sea and the World Heritage Site. The Church is decorated with stunning frescoes.
Although the Church no longer officially serves as a church, it is a popular place to get married in. Every year, about 150 civil wedding ceremonies take place in the Church.

I was hoping for a better sunset, but it disappeared behind the clouds – so I dropped in the 10 stop filter to make a loooong exposure instead.
